t .. , .... , N V i ---v We tv--1 2 x - f IENIUIQ A IDLAY RECORD group representing the Senior A dramatic talent turned out this semester for the play tryouts. From this group a capable cast was chosen by Mr. Edmund S ence, and the presentation of Lilies of the Field was a huge success. Through slgilful direction of Mr. Spence, the Senior A's take pride in one of the best class plays ever presented in this high school. The story of Lilies of the Field concerns the lovely twins whose birthday presents from their grandmother are ten yards of pink crepe de chine and a month's visit in London. When the grandmother realizes how much better the second gift is, she decides that the lucky girl will be the one who most attracts a gentleman, an antiquarian, who is invited to lunch. By a careless word the girl's father gives the secret away to one of the twins who, never sailing under false colors, tells the other. They plan their conquests of the antiquarian and swear that no matter what happens, they will always be TWins. ! Donning old-fashioned dresses and acquiring a babyish lisp and a respectful atti- tude, one fortunate twin quite overwhelms the antiquarian and wins the trip to London. Unknown to her, however, he has seen her as she really is, and he leads her through a hectic month of surprising London with trailing skirts, poke bonnets, and long CfalseD curls. Too late she realizes that she loves him and believes that she must go on with the farce or lose him. The play comes to a happy and amusing close when she finally throws aside her make-believe and becomes her real self. This role of Elizabeth, the erring twin, was given a beautiful interpretation by Josephine Francis, and the part of the other twin, very modern, adorable Katherine, was played by Dorothy Funk. Mrs. Rook-Walter, the twin's grandmother was played admirably by Doris Smith, and Harry Hosmer took the part of the antiquarian. Warren Cornwell and Eleanor Agnew played the Vicar and his wife, parents of the twins. The part of a silly, dapper little man of fashion who changed habits and ideas to please Kitty was taken by Lionel Ridout. Other characters were played by Marian Fisher, Lucille Cathcart, Jewell Elliot, and Burt Anderson. l 101 Trlu Arona
