Mr. Davis has devoted his entire teaching career of six years to our Academy. After receiving from La Sierra College his B,A. with a major in-Art, Mr. Davis gave seven years of service to Boulder Sanitarium. From here, Uncle Sam called him to Europe where he worked in a general hospital for over two years. Then he came to us. Mr. Davis' hobbies range from bird study and tennis to radio and cars. The family pride and joy is their ,AN new Volkswagon. There are two daughters in the t familyflslareia in the first grade, and Judy in the fourth. Mr. Davis hopes to take additional work at some future time in engineering. . WILLIAM A. Previously he taught in the Church School at Eureka, California, and at the High School in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Mr. West graduated from Pacific Union College in 1951, receiving his B.A. in Biology. Mr. West's hobbies are model airplanes and flying. The West family includes his wife Ruth, who is also a teacher, and their two children, Arthur and Lora. They recently purchased a new house, the first home they have owned. Mr, West has proven himself a capable sponsor of our A.S.B., supporting enthusiastically all its activities. Mrs. Detlefs completed her business education at National Business Training College in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1927. Sub- sequently she has held secretarial positions in various offices, including service in a law office in a little Dutch town of Iowa. Having come from a family of eleven children, Mrs. Detlefs enjoys the company of young people and has derived much pleasure from the six years of her asso- ciation with the students at SDUA When time permits, Mrs. Detlefs' di- versions are reading, music and travel. Her great source of inspiration is found in the text of Scripture, All things work together for good to them that love God. W. F. DETLEFS, Custodian MARGUERITE DETLEFS fwith Dorothy Dick and Suzanne Purdyj Cafeteria, Office Mr. Detlefs has been not only our custodian for the past six years, but also the supervisor of student labor for the twenty-five classrooms and spacious lawns of SDUA 's plant. Mr. Detlefs worked for eighteen years at Allied Laboratories in Sioux City, Iowa, before coming to us. His ambition to see his sons secure an adequate education is being realized. One son graduated from Iowa State College at Ames, Iowa and is now with the IBM, the other one was honor student of his class at Purdue University and also the youngest law student to graduate from the University of Iowa. Mr. Detlefs' wife is our office secretary and their son jimmy graduated from the 8th grade this year. Mr. Detlefs has found considerable satisfaction in photography, an outside interest.
