'MR. FENTON L' Hopp L 1 Bible, History The goal of the Bible Department is that every student will have not only a knowledge of the truth but a love of the truth, and with this, a real, growing experience with God. In these days of skepticism the Bible De- partment endeavors to stand as a fortress of truth among our young people and to train them as able defenders of this stronghold. In our History Department we endeavor to see God's leading among the nations and to develop intelligent, honest citizens. i N Wt.. fu if S ' WM . , , 7' if fkllq x4 lv 1 I , . ,fb 1 , F 1 ., ' -.Fr ' V F315 'Q ' tF'f 3' It 1 a, .A 2 at , 1 A Q- .-ay., ,f 15,2 V 4 J L , .1 Q- ,A 9 's A il 'If 'Vac 51 MRS. CLARK Science, Mathematics Our Science Department is a vital part of our inte- grated school program, for a study of the. natural sciences is second only to the science of Salvation. To the really wise, scientific research opens vast fields of thought and information. The ways of God as revealed in the natural world and in His dealings with, constitute a treasury from which every student in the school of Christ may draw. ---TESTIMONIES, Volume 8 , f f 75 I ,y Accguntant, Bookkeeping 4,0 The Business Office and Bookkeeping c sscafford a real opportunity for the training of young people in the fields of business and secretarial work. Many youth who have had such training are now serving their Master in various fields of service. 'weafef dw M J afar f ,twig WP X-1' MRS. MILLIE ADAMSON Spanish, History, Home Arts If it were possible to separate the Spanish language from the speech of Americans many of our common words would be lost. Some of our states and many of our cities would have to be renamed. A policy of learning the language of our near neighbors is good judgment and what fun we have deciphering it! Our students who are. learning to read, write and speak the Spanish language have a double opportunity to enjoy music, art, crafts, customs, and costumes. At some later time this knowledge of Spanish might be the way to others at home or in foreign service. MR. W. A. DAVIS Vocations Working with the hands is a very practical side of the education of youth. Each young man needs to learn some of the uses and advantages of mechanical drawing and woodworking. This is the goal of the department. M QW '! 'r In the band, orchestra, and chamber music groups we try to maintain a balance both in the number of instruments and the selection of music played. Secular and sacred concerts are given during the year. We strive for technical perfection and correct interpreta- tion, thus seeking to honor God who has given us the blessing of music. Music is a precious gift of God, designed to uplift the thought to high and noble themes, to inspire and elevate the soul. Call to your aid ----- in- strumental music, and let the glorious harmony as- cent to God, an acceptable offering. ----MESSAGES TO YOUNG PEOPLE 1 4 , gras , X ' 1 j ,m r f ' 1 ? 5 f I mam ,Q Ulwunln u l x lb. To the basic units of this educational program we have added an enlarged, and much im- proved typing course. The student is taught, not only the basic skills of typing but is shown methods to in- crease speed and accuracy. It is encouraging to see the interest increasing in a knowledge so useful in our everyday lives. MRS. MARGUERITE DETLEFS Office Secretary Attended N. B. T. The teachers are always striving to help us to do I better, not only in our school work, but in our whole mode of life. We are taught to enjoy the true things of this life, nature and good music, instead of the cheap, frivolous things that can lead to no good end, Our friends are true, because we share a common faith in the Lord, ------ Jeanne Slead Sophomore ..... ........ early morninghours, We bow our heads, and thank our God for sun, and rain, and flowers. We study many things, we plan our future years, For God is ever with us to banish all our fears. ----------Nola LaGrange Sophomore ...... you have an opportunity to learn much about correct English, Bible, and how to make and fix things in woodwork class: These things may be important in later life. I like school because you make new friends and have good times together. At noon you eat a hearty meal and are all ready for the next class. --- -Ia mes Coville Freshman ..... of the outside church activity. I get a lot of real enjoyment from singing in the school chorus and playing in our orchestra for church and other meetings. lt always seems to make a sermon more interesting when friends my own age that I see every day at school are preaching. I feel that the pur- pose of the school is not only to get an education but to unite its young people in work for God. ---------Darlene Camp Freshman ....... I have lots of friends that go there. Most of the students are Seventh Day Adventists, my own faith, and are raised in good Christian homes. I like the new buildings. I like the speakers in chapel. The chorus is a lot of fun. The study periods are a relief when there is a lot of homework to be done. The bus rides to and from school are most enjoyable also. ----------Linda Oster Freshman ..... first of all, it is a friendly school. You know everyone and everyone knows you. You smile a good morning while passing in the hall, and your greeting is returned. You have a feeling of close friendship with your classmates and your teachers, a feeling which is returned. I like my school be- cause it is a small school. Education is run on the basis of teacher to individual, not on the basis of mass production. It is a Christian school, run in close cooperation with our churches. School activities are coordinated with church activities. The teachers aren't kill-joys. They are highly efficient in the field of teaching. Classes are never boring, and you receive your grades with a feeling of having earned them. Taking all into consideration, I don't think that you could find a school much better. --------- Vic Kolpacoff Freshman .... of its location. On a hill overlooking the splendid Pacific, 'neath the spacious skies it spreads. I love our school because of its faculty. Nowhere else can there be found a combination of nicer, friendlier, wiser teachers or a more human, kind principal. Last I cherish our school because of its student body. Christianity is abundant, happiness apparent, and loyalty absolute! --- ----Romilda Guthrie Junior ..... of the true education it offers, of the wonderful fellowship between students and teachers, of the Christian atmosphere and brotherly love which plays so big a part in my school. Teachers and students are companions. There is a bond between them that I've never seen any place but in my school. The true education that is offered in my school may not be the most elaborate or modernistic but its good simple fundamental teachings are the most important. -----Sue Branson Senior xX X 45 5 ff - fmvl .V , fy, 1 U, Y r C ,J . ff :' , TQ .X ' xx -- -A V QS ,f X 'L P I lHuMfULWf 5.1, lf Q' 'um 'W f ., 'fx 3 f V r-V Y In fn .M Ill! But like all true jewels, boys and girls must be ground and polished and re- fined to bring out their luster and to increase their value. God wants each one of you to become men and women who are Npolished after the simili tude of a palace,H with every flaw removed. Sometimes the grinding and polishing are unpleasant experiences, but they are necessary if we are to become Nmore precious than fine goldu in the sight of God. Bible, arithmetic and geography are more than subjects which are taughts in school, they are part of the tools used to perfect the jewels of character. Your teachers this year have endeavored tozremove some of the flaws which we all have by nature, and to polish to their greatest possible brilliance in each pupil the facets of obedience, cheerfulness, honesty and kindness. When Jesus shall come to make up His jewels, may all of you become citizens of His kingdom where you shall forever have UEndless Horizonsn of opportunity.
