Varsity diver Dave Vick also scored wiII throughout the year. The Swim- mer of the Year award went to T m Springer, a 4 year letter- man. If Coach Cummings and the San Clemente Swim Team can consistently post such an outstanding record year after year without an on campus pool, imagine how utterly fantasstic they would be if they did not have to travel 8 miles a day to Camp Pendleton to train. tSophomores Dave Atkinson and Pat Lineback should be the team foundation for next year. Track got off to a slow start this year with the varsity losing to a strong Anaheim team, a strong Bolsa Grande and in league to Orange and Foothill. Coach Radford philosophically mentioned that there are two contributing factors, the addition of new events that S.C. has no strong contenders in, and lack of depth in general. j.V. track and frosh-soph track have had similar problems. Individually, however there have been some Stirling performances. Varsity sprinter Bob Frye is undefeated in league competition in the 100 and 220, posting 10.2 and 23.5 times respectively Sophomore john Duvall has looked good in the varsity 120 high hurdles and 180 low hurdles. Sophomore jeff Hurbutt has looked very good in the 440, 880 and the mile relay. Senior Doug Rails and sophomore jeff Forman are high jumping well tright up thereD.
