Orange? had been, heavily favoted to win and also to take the league championship, so the game wasa big Victory allyaround for the SC Tritons. , ,uT gharrpgm'ect play by both offensive and defensive units clinched the victory over the Panthers by a 5'corebf24-7., , , , ; , ' This marked, the thirdgame in whichtthe highiy honored defense had given up only a touch- down to the opposition. lnythree games, SC had given up 21 points while scoring 57. SC vs Foothill San Clementets Big Red Machine came to a grinding halt against a fired up Foams?! defense. Pall interceptions plagued the Triton offense throughout the night as they suffered a 15-0 den feat. Linebacker Bill Madden led the SC defense with 15 unallisted tackles along with the recovery of a fumble. Charlie Dargon and Kevin Wright intercepted pages against the Knight quarter- back in vain as Foorhill went on to score two touchdowns and hold SC scorless throughout the contest. The loss brings the team to an even 1-1 league record and an overall record of1-3 due to the lorfei! against Laguna.

I J 1. '1 5 t $.C. Vs. Brea San Clemente opened its 1971 football season with a loss to Brea. The game was a thriller in which either team could have broken the game open if they had just had the right breaks. Une fortunately, Brea did. The SC. defensive unit highlighted the game. Everyone worked together to stop Brea with the exception of one drive, The collapse of the defense for just that one moment was disastrous because the only score of the game came about as a result. $.C. Vs. Laguna San Clemente pulled everything together against Laguna to even their record at 4-1. Behind the leadership of quarterbacks Bill Kenny and john Springman, S.C. ramped to a 33-7 victory Clark jarrett and lose Malagon were two of the key factors in the win over theArtists. Flankers Pete Sellers, Bob Frye, and Mark King also helped considerably in S.C's superior offensive play. The defensive unity also had another fine game allowing only seven points to be scored against them for the second game in a row. Later on in the year, S.C. was informed that they would have to forfeit the game because of the schotastic eligibility of one of its players, Even though they had to forfeit, the players and coaches still considered the game a victory. 23.3.. ..

Helped considerably by Bob Frye and Pete Sellers, the Tritons scored and scored again. , h The widely known, tough hitting defense turned in another sparkling game as they gave up only 6 points. The strong defensive work by Katella's defense, brought the over- whelming win to spoil the homecoming game. SC. vs. Mission Viejo ' L -L The San Clemente Varsity Football Team invaded MiS-v sion Viejd's home grounds for a closely contested game! Following 3 I055 the week be- fore to Katella, the Triton: were again plagued byxinter- ceptions and fumbles.
