Elegance and beautytopped off the week as Cricket Bewsy was crowned Homecoming Queen. A week that included everything from Slave Trades to Mr. and Miss irresistible contest was acclaimed by Mr. Drager, student activities director as, Easily the best Home- coming week this school has ever seen. Beginning with the Pep club penny drive on Monday, November 2, the week lasted until Friday, November 6 with the last event being the Homecoming Dance. Along with the penny drive the APS began to sell king sized Triton Spirit ribbons on Monday. The Slave Trades began on Tuesday, the top sale being the 36 dollar auctioning off of Barbara Cheatum. Wandering Gypsies invaded the campus and told fortunes while the other activities continued. The annual Mum sale was sponsored by the Girl's League, on Wednesday, and then the big CAR PARADE AND DOWN- TOWN RALLY , sponsored by the Student Council, began. After the judging of the floats, at 3:30, all the floats and bicycles paraded through downtown San Clemente under a police escort to the Plaza. Happiness reigned as people participated in such activities as tricycle races, whipped cream fights, and tug of wars between the classes. On Thursday, the Slave Auctions continued as did the Pep Club's and AFS' activities. But a new activity started this year, an activity which reflects the concern of the young people for their environment- The Ecology Club TOTAL CAMPUS CLEANUP CAMPAIGN. Friday night, the scene was set. All week long there was joy,hap- piness and content, and it built to a spectacular climax. Then the time came. It was halftime of the game against Mission Viejo High. All the candidates were introduced. May I have the envelope please, requested John Russell, Senior class president. The suspense built. Theatrics applied by John Russell made the spectators hold their breath. Then as he started to announce the Princesses, eliminating one by one until he had one left. Cricket Bewsy had won. Complementing the night, the football team had a powerful victory, and the Homecoming Dance commenced. Reigned over by the beautiful Queen, the festivities concluded.
