Fired up with two losses in a row, the Tritons toppled the Foothill Knights by 14 points, making it the most exciting game of the season for the Tritons on their own home court. The next week, though, the Tritorfs luck Changed, and the Tustin Tillers edged by them by six points. The Red Cagefs were looking for blood as they confidently rolled over Laguna with a score of 81-51 the following week. But, turn about being fair play, Mission Viejo took the Tritons for an uncomfortable 30 point ride. The Tritons opened up the second half of the season with a victory over E1 Modena, but fell by a single point to the Villa Park Vanguards the following week. For example, Dan Chemotti pin- ned his opponent in the SC vs. Foothill match in 52 seconds. The average pin for the season was about two and a half minutes. It start- ed with the fiesta booth in the summer where over $100 was Cleared. The football assemblies were dominated by the spirit of the class of ,71. The liBattle of the Bandsn, an early year ac- tivity, netted more profits for the Junior Class than ever before in the history of SCHS. The Bake Sale Booth at the Renaissance Festival, the attendance at school functions and dances proved to the rest of the school the Junior class knew the true meaning of spirit. The Junior Class also started two great organizations-- the Surfing Team and O.U.C.H. tOrganization for Underpreviledged Childrenl. These groups helped get students involved in interesting activities. O.U.C.H. was especially good for the students because it made them aware of what it was like to be underpreviledged and how they could help. The juniors also sponsored the From at the Balboa Pavillion. It was the highlight of the year. But it was not only the pro- jects that made the juniors Number One. It was also their attitude toward San Clemente High School. They wanted to make something of themselves and their school. They knew only one way to go--Forward. Sophomores; Class Of ,72 The class of 72 was a forward looking class. Proud of their coming graduation year they ini- tiated a fund raising plan. Each sophomore was asked to show his pride by purchasing a class of ,72 pin. The funds received from these pins went into the treasury for activities in the years to come. The largest class to attend SCHS, the Class Of ,72 exhibited spirit equal to its size. Throughout the year they battled the Juniors for first place by gathering Class unity. The sophomores succeeded in meeting the high standards they set for themselves. Their goal was to strive to maintain these standards throughout their school careers at San Cle- mente High School. Only through experience did he come to an answer. And, as always, each Class finds it through sports events, assemblies, Class compe- titions, their first formal, pep rallies and the homecoming activities. However it is also through semester exams, team teaching, Algebra, Biology, Great Expec- tations, Julius Caesar, and foreign languages that the freshman comes to see his high school world. Having learned to cope with the pressures of high school life in their first long year, the now united freshmen can look forward to another three years Of activities. magg- ' D. It is also a very personal question which each person must answer for himself. Viktor Frankl wrote in his book Mans Search for Meaning, H Everything can be taken away from man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms e to choose ones atti- tude in any given set of circumstances, to choose oneis own way. This statement has great significance. We as human beings have great latitude in determining our directions. We are not fully condi- tioned and pre-determined. We can either stand up to the conditions and Challenges that face us each clay or we can give in to them. We can make commitments to life or make none and thus allow fate to determine our outcomes. In the final end, man does not simply ex- ist - he always determines what his existence will be. What will your directions he?
