SC 60 Ravenswood 56 The Dons had to fight again to defeat the Trojans. A 10 point fourth quarter bulge proved to be the cushion that gave the Dons narrow victory. Palo Alto 68 SC 65 SC fell prey to an annual disease common to the S.P.A.L. Either Paly wins the title or they beat the champs. This year, they beat the eventual champions in a game that, despite the closeness of the score, was a decisive victory for the Vikings. SC 82 Gunn 64 Bob Emery scored 58 points to lead the Dons to an important victory over the Titans. SC 50 Cubberley 55 In what was termed as a sloppy game , the Dons beat the undermanned Cougars on the hilltop. SC 75 Carlmont 42 The Scots, in the midst of a record-breaking losing streak, ran into an SC squad which was preparing for the S.P.A.L. stretch drive. The Dons' performance foretold a rough and tumble finish for the season. SC 72 Wfoodside 61 Missing the services of Cfaig Farley, the Dons had to overcome the height advantage of Woodsicle. Neither team gave an inch, but SC finally won the exciting game. Craig Farley and Ken Buickerood battle Joe McNair of Ravenswood. mamma. Q- SC 73 Carlmont 55 Winless Carlmont was chewed up and spit all over the court by San Carlos. The Dons won their l5th straight with this decisive victory. SC 82 Woodside 62 In another strategic battle of the S.P.A.L. war the Dons chopped up the strong Wildcats. Wloodside could not keep pace with the strong hustle and desire exhibited by the San Carlans. Sequoia 72 SC 5l SC 78 Palo Alto 65 The Vikings, 8-O on the season, were inundated by Rick Brandeburgs 37 points. San Carlos controlled the entire game, SC 65 Gunn 50 The Titans never gave up but could not overcome the first half lead that the Dons had built. SC 69 Cubberley 45 The Cougars were no match for the all-around play of the Dons. SC started fast and pulled away, com- pleting a three-game sweep of the Palo Alto schools. 194 9. The Dons, outhustled for the first time, fell hard to the Cherokees. Sequoia took control in the middle of the first quarter and never let up. The game ended SC's l-4 game win streak and started an 8 game streak for the Cherokees. X, IZ, Rick Brandeburg shoots against Paly. Emery and Don Brandeburg look on. SC 62 Menlo-Atherton 52 The Bears, facing SC for the second time, played another tough game. The Dons blew an early 15 point lead and had to scramble to win.

S ,ff- SC 85 Sequoia 75 Iovertimeq ln a game strangely similiar to the Blackford game, the Dons overcame a I3 point lead in the fourth quarter, and bombed the foul-decimated Cherokees in the over- time. Menlo-Atherton 47 SC 46 In a deliberate, slowly played game, M-A finally took the measure of the Dons, after failing in two previous attempts. The Bears scored a free throw with one second left to take the upset victory. THE PENINSULA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT The crowded innards of dinky Stanford Pavilion played host to San Carlos and seven other championship teams from March 10th until March 12th. Against St. Mary's of Berkeley, the Dons resorted to free throws to win 63-62. The San Carlos rooters, in their best form, backed the Dons to the wire in the close game. In the climatic finals, against Lincoln of San jose, ZOO Don followers couldn't get in but stayed with SC in spirit. The Dons responded by taking top-rated Lincoln down Missing Craig Farley due to an injury, the Dons opened their quest by soundly beating South San Francisco, 75-61. The game was not close and the Dons seemed to be in good shape for the semi-finals. San Carlos Five Proud In Defeat in PBT Fina to the last minute of play before losing 59- 1 'ii s I w 'I 53.
