SAN CARLOS 12-GUNN 6 The Dons had to fight for this win, and although they did not come up with a top effort, they got the job done. The key play was Bob Phillips' recovery of a fumbled kickoff in the 2nd quarter, which led to the winning touchdown. The Dons controlled the game in all categories, not allowing Cubberley to score until there were only a few seconds left in the game. CARLMONT 26-SAN CARLOS 20 In the annual Homecoming game, the Dons opened quickly. Three first half touchdowns left the Dons with a 20-6 lead. The Scots, though, fought back and stole the game on a clutch, last- second interception of an SC pass. MENLO-ATHERTON 13-SAN CARLOS 0 On the rain-soaked Terremere Field, the Bears and the Dons battled each other and the weather. M-A struck early and late while repulsing several Don thrusts. The small, but exuberant crowd gave the Menlo-Atherton Homecoming game an interesting atmosphere. H K .iiV' ' PALO ALTO 26--SAN CARLOS 7 The Vikings sloshed through the mud and the Dons for a decisive victory. The sparsely attended game saw the Dons make their lone score late in the 4th quarter. RAVENSWOOD 14-SAN CARLOS 7 The inspired Trojans, climaxing their greatest season, came through with clutch plays to beat the Dons. The winning score came late in the game as the Trojans finally broke through the stubborn SC defense.

Above, Lincoln Minor catches a long pass to set up the Trojans deep in SC territory. On the right, three Dons battle to knock the pass down, but it bounds into the arms of num- ber 34 for the game-tying touchdown. Page 185
