Sweat and effort, human nature strained to its uttermost and on the rack, yet getting through alive, and then turning its back on its success to pursue another, more rare and arduous still - this is the sort of thing the presence of which inspires us ..... William James ti 1 'Tw You are today where your thoughts have brought you. You will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you. You will realize your dreams, be they base or beautiful, or a mixture of both, for you will gravitate toward that which you secretly most love. an-...uf.....,-..... ....-- ... .. Our recent past is but the beginning of a still more won- derful future - if we will it so. But, an alchemy of human understanding, iconoclasm, perserverance and idealism must be integrants of he who is to enioy this future. D. D. Murray 511, Wilitfv. . . These funds are raised through the sale of student body cards and proceeds from athletic and cultural performances. The funds buy tickets, uniforms, the services of referees, as well as anything else the representatives deem necessary. The Student Legislature gives the students the opportunity to solve their own problems. Solutions can be reached which please both students and faculty, For example, this year the Library pass system, which proved satisfactory, was initiated. At the end of the year the prob- lems of student b havior on and off campus were being considered and solutions pro osed. j9y3lqW9if6S lion l l Zli VL ff Each Social-? the scrwegs af rlpresenkfcegand aI nt if Vwviolft Virgil DX AQTUDENT COURT was 6 yay? V SCHQOL SPIRIT BQARD The duty of the Spirit Commission is to promote school spirit in the best possible way. This is done through organizing , rallies, improving the rooting section, planning card stunts, A etc. The main achievement of this year's commission was ob- taining a school banner, a heavy cotton cloth six feet by twenty feet with white letters on a red background. Of the lO9 mem- bers there were fifteen active members who contributed greatly to the organization this year. Thanks are in store for these people and also to the advisor, Mr. Wilson. These are the students who issue the citations to students who violate student body laws. Members of this board must have the respect of the student body so that their task can be performed correctly. The major problem the board deals with is the litter situation, but smok- ing and other actions detrimental to the welfare of the school i also come under its iurisdiction. f WELFARE BOARD First row: Joel Fritsche, Pam Taylor, Laura Brown, Sally Kolthoff, Diane Kilburg, Sandee Courland, Jeanne Zimmerman, Don Richard- son. They handled the school's important finan- -' cial transactions - selling Student Body Cards, school pictures, and tickets to games and other affairs such as the Christmas Concert. Another significant task of the Finance Board is help- ing to plan the school budget. This was accomplished by Commissioner Shirley Murray and her board through close work with their advisor, Miss Conlan, and the school treas- urer, Miss Bartlett. , 777 I f fi0L'Cc'c ' ' Cfddfxffc' C gl I M ll FINANCE BOARD First row: Bunny Russell, Penny Fault, Diane Ryan, Corliss Fisher, Shirley Murray, Sandee Courland, Sondra Yaeger, Jan Rose. J I .i X SADIE HAWKINS The Sadie Hawkins Dance, the annual girl-chase-boy affair, was sponsored by the Junior Class. Entertainment was supplied by our own 3 Hits And A Miss, and there was the traditional Marryin' Sam portrayed by Dr. Phinque. The cos- ' c tunnes and decorations gave the dan e a rural atmosphere. ,X ' ff -Ns' JUNIOR PROM 9. -.Al I , mx This year's Junior Prom transformed the gym into a Roman Rhapsody in Blue. The picturesque decorations, statues, fiow- ers, and streamers ot various blues and i 95 purples gave the dance an elegant atmo- sphere. The hypnotic music was provided by Dick Hernandez and his orchestra. The highlight of the evening vvas the crown- ing of Pat Wiptler as queen. J . ja if . .
