ROACH who had been Commanding Officer since the ship was commissioned in March 1971. A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. commander Riedemann graduated from West Chester College in 1956, He was commissioned in October 1956 after com- pleting Officers Candidate School at Newport. Rhode Island. His first tour of duty was with Beachmaster Unit TWO at Little Creek, Virginia. where he served until August of 1959. After a short tour with the Office of Naval lntelligence he was ordered to duty as Chief Engineer onboard the Norfolk based CSS C'lI.4Rl,ES P. CECIL HJDR 8351. Upon completing the Engineering Science Curriculum at the Naval Postgraduate School in June of 1965 he reported to l'S.S' 111-11.190 C'tll'.N'TY MST ll63l, w-here he served as lixecutive Officer until August of 1965, when he was assigned to the 1'-ileet .Anti- Air Warfare Training Center.
