Revealing the infinite mysteries of life. il lil' f It j fl ,Ml My my f aj X ,v i ffl l fl? ' 'Zi---H Textbooks come to life in SBI-lS's Lab Biology classes where each student has his own equipment and performs his own experiments Lab Biology, a class covering the fundamental biological and physiological human principles, has proven to be very popular among the juniors and seniors of Card City. Many hours of tedious labor were devoted to detailed research proj- ects, destined to comprise nearly all of SBHS's entries in the Inland Science Fair. The combination lab and classroom contained more experi- mental animals, especially white rats, than it did students, and to many outsiders it appeared to be a miniature zoo. But for some strange reason only a few of the animals lived for more than one or two months, maybe because of all those organic experiments that the budding scientists liked to per- form, The guinea pigs were injected with samples of every- thing including cancerj one student even converted two once independent rats into a siamese pair. The pupils who were willing to devote their time to the research required by this course experienced an irreplaceable feeling of independence and satisfaction, l-low to inject a rat is demonstrated to Roberta Neuman by Biology teacher Paul Ash. Animals were inoculated with everything from cancer to measles by inquisitive young scientists. jc Tbnaifb Two hundred and six bones in the human bodyln an- nounces Biology instructor Charles Wagner as he in- troduces Blan- che, silent ob- server in the lab. SBHS is not lagging in this accelerated program, having many technical courses which are designed to develop math-science ability: ad- vanced algebra, a course which takes up where first year algebra left off and continues further to lay the foun- dation necessary for success in higher mathematics, That's how it is, class.
