X When he talks to you, you know he comes from a far off place, Massachusetts, to be exact. He Went to school in Somerville, and when he was through there, he attended Tuft's College and Harvard, among others. All this happened a long time ago. He's not saying when, but he will admit to having heard discussions of the Spanish-American War as a boy. This, in itself, is not anything out of the ordinary, but in September, l93l, he started teaching at SBHS. From this time on he began making Card City history. Concentrating on mathematics, chemistry, and science, he em- barked on a career of making friends With everyone who became one of his students. ln l946, he became principal of the school, and has been an excellent administrator since. Our Principal has two children, now both married, and several grandchildren. His son and daughter graduated from S. B. H. S. He married his wife in l923 in Plainville, Mass. By talking with him, one can realize that he lives a happy life, the kind of life he is very proud of. One of his greatest achievements came in l952-53 when he skillfully operated a school of 3500 students in a plant that had been de- signed for l500. Being principal of a high school as large as ours is a great responsibility. Only a man of strength, character, and intei- ligence could handle such a position, and we have that man as our principal.
