DEDICATION Carrie Coddington To one of the most dearly loved of all teachers, we dedicate this TYRO of 1945. Miss Carrie Coddington, upon advice of her physician, retired unexpectedly this fall after thirty-nine years of service to her beloved alma mater. Her keen interest in all school activities, especially in the TYRO, has endeared her to all students throughout the years. It was through her efforts that the first year book was started. She will long be remembered for her kindly help to all students and for her words of encouragement and her cheery smile. We wish Miss Coddington improved health so that she will have time for the leisure and the enjoyment that she so richly deserves.

FOREWORD With the outcome of the present world struggle many new- ideas are emerging. One of those ideas is in evidence here in this book, the color photo on the frontice page. Our theme Unity Brings Vic- tory is an outgrowth of the present world struggle. Unity is an important factor in today ' s problem and unity will determine i t s outcome. As in war, so in a staff, unity is import- ant, and only with it — is victory won. We present our second war book.
