Francine .-in., ,ti 4 Reinosa is ......ef M.V.P. The swimming team finished the season with a 3-5 record. According to Coach Dottie Rose, Our team didn't perform as well as expected due to an unfortunate amount of swimmer's illnesses. When the squad had a full, healthy team they performed quite well. Senior Francine Reinosa said, The team isn't doing as well as last year. We just didnlt seem together as a team. Even though the team had a losing season, Francine Reinosa was one of the bright spots. She was the lone CCS qualifier by having one of the best times in the area in the 200 and 100 freestyle races. Divers Shannon Hansen and Stacey Mendez paced the Balers in competition throughout the season. Other outstanding performers were Michelle Miller, Cathy Coombes, and Heather Parker. . c .4 Q Cross Country Takes Second in MTAL The cross country team, under the coaching of John Coombes, has again asserted itself in MTAL competition. Coach Coombes has consistently had either first or second place finishes during his tenure as coach. This year was no different. The Baler team worked and ran hard only to finish second to an up and coming Palma team. Palma took the league title by only 8 points. The Balers have a host of excellent runners. Led by senior Robert Cheetah Gonzales the Balers will be a dominant force to contend with in the future. This is because of returning lettermen junior Fritz Ureno, Steve Vallejo, and Fabian Gaona. The Balers who received the outstanding awards were Robert Gonzales, Most Valuable Player, and Gregg Coombes, Most Improved Player. Cheetah Gonzales was also the team Captain. 4. Maria Del la Cruz races to the victory line a winner. 5. Girl's Team: Marieta Del la Cruz, Julie Fernandes, Debbie Purves 6.
