Near the beginning of the term a dance and a food basket rattle were held in order to raise money for the annual prom. The 49er combined their talents to put on a splen- did three-act comedy entitled Fly Away Home, under the direction of Mr. Morrissey. When basketball season rolled around, the juniors were again found to be in there pitching in charge of concessions tor a home game. Of course, the outstanding event of the year was the annual Iunior-Senior Proni, held in the latter part of May. Because ot the hard work on the part of the juniors, it was acclaimed one of the finest ever held. vu. GROUP ONE FRONT ROW: O. Davila, R. Caldera. B. Bacon, I. Giacomazzi, I. Gilbin, M. Albritton, R. FO0TBHll The Ramblers were not too successful during the toot- ball season, however, even though they suffered defeat at the hands of stronger teams, they fought back coura- geously each time. An example of their fighting spirit was displayed in the Salinas game Where they stub- bornly held their opponents to a zero to zero score throughout the first half. As the season pro- qressed, the Ramblers suffered several defeats, but toward the end of Ianuary they won impressive victories over Vic's Club, the High School, the Cannery, and the Hotshots. More important than their victories, however, was the fact that the season was characterized by en' thusiasm, qood sportsmanship, and cooperation on the part of each member of the basketball team. HRCHEIW Not to be outdone by the men of the student body, the Iunior College girls were extremely interested in various forms of athletics. Archery, badminton, tennis, golf and volleyball were the principal sports in which the girls participated. Plans are being made to broaden the athletic activities for the Iunior College girls. To all concerned this signifies a tremendous advancement in Iunior College physical educational, for it insures better mental and physical health for the women of tomorrow.
