COMMERCIAL ft ARTISTS Ji WIN AWARDS ] $ The students in Tech's Commercial Art department undertake many projects during the year. One of their specialties is poster painting. These posters dominate Tech halls, advertising the coming dances, plays, and sport events. The artists have won awards for fire prevention and safety posters entered in local and national contests. —® I j MHiCltiiinf t. p nn‘kuiQl C Sfj f n 9ub . Artists Jesse Solos. Angie Apolinor. Pete Gonzales. Frank Hinoioso. and Henry Lopez put finishing touches to advertising pane|s for the v , c C|ub and ,he Tech Little Theatre. This year the Commercial Art Department designed and constructed the giant birthday cake in the Main Hall for the Silver Anniversary Reunion. At Christmas, holiday greetings were sent to other schools in the city. Every year the Tech Artists enter paintings in the City's River Art Show held on the banks of the San Antonio River. Usually they come home with top honors. Cartoonist Jesse Garcia displays one of his favorite characters.

TECH PRINTERS KEEP Techites get their Christmas cards printed by Raul Salas, Oliver Garza, Gilbert Flores, Louis Martinez, and Johnny Arreguin. Tech s Print Shop students are “putting out while “taking in. At the time that they are putting out the school newspaper, they are taking in valuable experience which will enable them to enter the printing trade with the assurance that they are prepared. Setting the type, feeding the press, cutting stock, and distributing type to the various cases in the shop are some of the duties performed by these students day by day. These boys print choice slips, failing notices, pass slips, absentee pads, the student directory, and a weekly V.I.C. newspaper, “The Tradesman . Type setting is one of the tasks that Print Shop students Raymond Najera, Allen Goodlow, Frank Guajardo, Gilbert Flores, Roger Botello, Eddie Paine, and David Mendoza must master. The Tech Little Theatre tickets and programs are fed to the platen press by Rudy Avelar, Rudy Ramos, David Sanchez, and Raymond Najera.
