THE TECHNICIAN •194? — FOR THIS WE SERVE Private Bill Tech stands proudly giving the best in service to his country. Already his medals and citations are many as proof of his value to the armed and civilian forces. One of his awards is for the pre-induction courses of mathematics, science. ROTC and shops from officers who arc finding Tech trained students more acclimated, more skilled and more adaptable than others to the rigors of war life. A second medal is for his generous contribution to the manpower pool by way of streamlined courses. The commercial and occupations departments, the trade and industrial shops are turning out workers drilled in war time needs to keep the civilian machinery at peak production. Important to him is a citation for devotion to duty for his cheerful contribution of a jeep or two, a tank or two and thousands of shells in the form of 150,000 pounds of scrap metal collected last fall. And likewise a similar citation is his for the Pearl Harbor Month sales of $8,000 in war stamps and bonds. But his most cherished medal is for the boys he is furnishing to the armed forces. Private Tech can't wear a star for each of them scattered over the world. He would be spangled with 400 or more and would be constantly star showered each day as more of his boys and girls too- join the fighting forces of the United States. But it .is for them and particularly for Arthur Seerig, Paul Richter, Ruben Cardenas, Paul Vistuba, Arthur Lopez and Harry Johnson, who died that such institutions as Tech may continue, that he stands eager to shed “sweat, blood and tears to help bring unconditional surrender of the enemies, and to insure the Four Freedoms in the world with peace and happiness for his vast family.
