SENIOR BATTALION Hail to the class of '43; They're ready for life's spree! As Fish’ the class organised under the leadership of Mrs. Marie E. Gahan and Mr. Clarkson Groos (now Lt. in the U. S. Navy). The outstanding activity of the year was the sophomore picnic held at Woodlawn Park in May, 1942. Frances Marrs was elected president of the class; Joyce Bankston, vice-president; Diana Reid, secretary; Mamie Meneses, treasurer; and Alice Biemer, parliamentarian. The ‘Mistletoe Prom and the Junior-Senior Prom highlighted the Junior activities of the year. At the last part of the Junior year the sponsors. Mrs. Gahan and Mr. Groos resigned their positions as class sponors as Mr. Groos joined the Navy and Mrs. Gahan had too many other activities. Very willing to take over the responsibility of class sponsors were Miss Dorothy Rehn and Mr. Guy Tune. The following Junior class officers w-cre elected: Margaret Sargent, president; Carl Haffner, vice-president: Delores Boldt, secretary; Mamie Meneses, treasurer; and Alex Habeeb, parliamentarian. The full effect of the war was felt by this class, now Seniors of '43. when Fred Warren was called in the Air Corps. He was named honorary president of the Senior Class and Kurt Wertheim succeeded as president of the class. Other officers of the year were Jane Huddleston, vice-president; Mary Joyce Stewart, secretary; Mamie Meneses, treasurer: Jack Slaughter, sergeant-at-arms; and Marie Wills, reporter. The biggest laugh of the year was caused by the annual Kid Day. Everything from lollypops to little red wagons were seen through 'ole Tech's halls. Other activities of the Senior year were the Senior play, “Reserve Two For Murder, which nearly bumped off every member in the play on April 28— the Junior-Senior prom held at the Bonner’s Studio on May 7—the Senior Class Day Assembly held on May 19, followed by the luncheon and theatre party the Senior Prom held at the Elks Club, May 21 the Sunday Baccalaureate service held May 23 and the final graduation service May 24 in the Municipal Auditorium.
