THIRD ROW: Lupe Salazar; Leo Salazar; Howard Spencer; Isabel Salas; Alice Sawtelle; Aven Torbert. Spanish (Elub OBJECTIVE: A better understanding of Spanish speaking countries. CLUB DAY: Third Thursday of the month. NATURE OF MEETING: Information on Spanish names; on customs of Spanish-speak- ing countries. Alice Bienneman reports on Letters from A Spanish Soldier ; Santos Marmole,io, on Posadas ; Delfina Gariel, on ' Bull Fights. The mem- bers wind up each meeting, singing Spanish songs and playing Spanish games. SOCIAL LIFE: Annual club party at Christmas, at which time the members sing and play Spanish songs and games, and break the lovely Piiiata; a picnic in April and other socials on holidays. BENEVOLENCES: Setting up a Nacimiento in the library at Christmas; sponsoring a Mexican pecan candy sale at the Adda Dabba Carnival and during the school year. Alpl|a Kappa tgma PURPOSE: To stimulate interest on the part of students in modern educational prob- lems, and to solve these problems as a group. ACTIVITIES: The main project of the year has been to discover the reason for people reading the funny papers. MEETINGS: The club ha.s a regular business meeting every first and third Thursdays. In addition, social meetings are held during the year. MEMBERSHIP: Girls who have the highest records in the Department of Education, under the direction of Mr. Merrill A. Bishop.
