Class Takes Long Distance Field Trip It was a working vacation for Spanish teacher Jan Kullbom and two of her Spanish Il students when they went to Monterrey, Mexico, over the Christmas holidays. Practical use of the language was stressed as they bargained in the mercado, watched crystal and leather goods being handmade, and visited the centuries-old historical attractions of the city. Left: The Obispado, 18th century mission- fortress now under restoration, occupies a prominent role in the history of Monterrey. Above right: Miss Kullbom and Kay Kelfer translate the plaque describing its historic significance. WINTER 35
