wk 94 94 X 64 44 In Memoriam In February of this year many of the members of the faculty and a large number of the friends of the school were saddened by news of the death of Mr. Sam Bondurant, the Colonelis brother. Mr. Bondurant was a member of the faculty of the Academy when it was a high school and through this association was a familiar figure to many. His visit to us last year was one that was enjoyed by all who had the opportunity to know him. His quick wit and charming personality endeared him to man and boy alike. Such a man as Mr. Bondurant is not often found in our time. Unselfish, kind, devoted, Christian -terms with true meaning in rela- tion to describing this man - can only by comparison with the man himself seem hollow. Our life is richer for having known him. 9494-K 9494-K Dedication Coach Priest who has been a member of the Academy faculty since 1952 has always been a close friend of both boarder and day student. Besides being the greatest Math teacher in the world, he is also the Athletic Director and our representative on the sports league council. He is seen at all hours of the day at any given corner of the campus giving some student a bit of friendly advice or perhaps reprimanding him for some inefficiency. Eighth graders will long remember the last study hall gathering in his classroom to either seriously study their Algebra or simply to get out of study hall. Also during this period we will remember when two or more struggling little waifs from some other class would meander timidly into the room for the acceptance of their fate - some punishment for their conduct in another class. Although he is no longer a coach actively engaged in training the students, occasionally he gives us all a treat by putting on his football pants and a jersey and lets us see him give a few of the pointers from the good old days. He may be seen cornering some novice lineman to improve his erouch in the line or giving some running tips to one of the backs, but whatever he does it is always good advice. Being our representative to the sports league, he can be seen at every game. He participates in every league meeting and livens up our frames bv his interest. D 1 The San Antonio Academy of Texas annual staff and the eighth grade are proud to dedicate this Blue Bonnet ,62 to Coach John D. Priest. PAGE 3
