Queen Kelli Reigns Over Homecoming 1973 Friday, October 26 was a day of excitement and frantic activity as Centralites made last-minute preparations, adjust- ments, and repairs to their Homecoming Parade entries. Finally the seven duchesses, their escorts, and drivers took their assigned places on Ftiver Drive and at 3 pm. sharp Homecoming 1973 became official as the signal to start was given. The long line of floats, cars, and other vehicles inter- spersed with bands and drill teams began the long trek through downtown San Angelo which would end at the Santa Fe Golf Course. The parade over and the winning floats chosen CDECA Chapter won first place, followed by Vocational Dffice Edu- cationj students began making preparations for the annual Homecoming game that would pit the Bobcats against the Midland High Bulldogs. The Orange overcame a first-quarter 7-O deficit to over- power the Tall City contingent, 33-7, with the passing arm of Quarterback David Dodson being the most potent San Angelo weapon. At halftime, Homecoming duchesses were presented and Kelli Cantu was crowned Homecoming Queen. Kelli became the first Homecoming Queen in San Angelo history to make the traditional ride around the stadium in a golf cart, as a school board ruling prohibits heavier vehicles on the track. Following the football game, the annual Homecoming Dance in the gym concluded the day's activities. Mike Gill and Margi Adams Richard Mazur and Nancigail Gill Randy Harris and Renee Hejl

November Became 'Month of Spirit' Although marked by the end of the football sea- son, November was the month of spirit on the Central campus. The annual bonfire sponsored by the Key Club burned hot and bright on the night before the Bobcat-Abilene High game. Orange and Blue were seen everywhere during Beat Permian Week when the student council sponsored a homeroom decorating contest. Cars had bumper stickers, walls had posters, shirts had slogans, each proclaiming Beat Mojo! When the big night came, numerous Centralites joined other San Angeloans in traveling to Odessa to see the Bobcats shatter the Mojo jinx once and for all, but returned home with the renewed annual resolve to wait until next year as the Orange fin- ished onthe short end of a 42-7 score. But the school rallied behind the Bobcats for the final game of the season against Big Spring and spirit flared high, with the Tex-Anns present- ing the annual senior drill at the Friday morning pep rally. The Cats responded by crushing the Steers 64-43 in a tilt as wild as it was exciting, and finished in a tie with Permian for the district cham- pionship. 4 V?
