To The Students San Angelo Senior High School The year 1946 and 1947 has found us on our way back to more normal living. The uncertainties and anxieties of War and its attendant restrictions cmd regulations are about past. Our natural inclination to have many of the things which have been unobtainable is causing many of us to spend our savings on high-priced merchandise. Events on the international scene mean much more to us than we .now realize. The first year of the United Nations Organization developed into a struggle between the United States and Russia for the acceptance by other nations of Democracy or Communism as the basic plan by which people should live. The' result will affect our entire lives and the future of our country. With my best wishes to the Seniors of 1947 go my hopes that they and their fellows may resolve to strengthen the American Way of life at home and to find a means of carry- ing the blessings which are ours as a people to all men every- where. May success and happiness go with you. Sincerely yours, I N N S Superintendent of Schools

SCHULKEY , School boards in general have reaped more than a fair share of the nettlesome problems left by postwar adjustment . . . and the San Angelo board is no exception. The Westerner is not speaking for San Angelo High School alone when it voices appreciation for the efforts of these men, who serve without remuneration other than a public-spirited desire to give their-city the best schools it is in their means to provide. l 4L
