To San Angelo High School Students: Our first postwar year at San Angelo High School has been one of readjustments, witnessing almost as much change as did the war years. Many students who would have gone to industry or to the armed forces, had the War continued, are back in school. The changes in the faculty, which were numerous. resulted from the general readjustment from war to peace. The esprit de corps of the student body remained at a high level. All activities reflected the fine faculty and student leadership and cooperation which has come to characterize our school. We expect the underclassmen to carry-on in the fine tradition of the past and strive to improve our school in the changing times just ahead. X To the Seniors we suggest that you continue in school during the next four years if possible. You will avoid much of the unsettled conditions of the present and prepare your- selves better for the good life we hope will be yours. Our best wishes go with you for success and happiness in all your worthy endeavors. Bryan Dickson is 5 Q. ss s. 5-Jugs. mafia w my KE s if mad Ar? 9 53 .MB H. as . No plaudits are theirs for a task that is often thankless, but they get the job done.

FRCM THE I init' To The Students: One of the first things a visitor notices when he enters a school is the attitude of the student body. The general at- mosphere-in the halls, in the classroom, and on the athletic fields-reflects the attitude of the students. I can, with all sincerity, say that the atmosphere created by you students is as wholesome as any that can be found in any part of the state. Visitors in our school never fail to mention the attitude they see and feel. Our hosts in neighbor- ing towns also send us reports that show the same fine spirit prevailing away from home. It is a great pleasure to work and be associated with the students of San Angelo High School. My best wishes to each of you! . May I also congratulate and express my appreciation to the members of the Westerner staff for making this issue of the yearbook possible. With your interest and untiring efforts. it could be nothing short of a great success. Sincerely, Iohn Bishop
