SS SAMUEL EI,1oT oR1soN FFG-13 USS Samuel Eliot Morison conducted Baltic Operations during the period of 24 May-22 August 1996. The mission of the Baltic Operations is to provide the nations of the Baltic Sea the opportunity to see and become familiar with the mission, goals and personnel of the active and reserve American Navy. It also provides the ship's crew the opportunity to train with foreign navies and to visit and become acquainted with the ports and people of the Baltic Nations. Additionally, the Baltic Operations provide, through increased American Navy visibility a positive attitude and greater international understanding toward the American Fleet in support of global Democracy. USS Samuel Eliot Morison visited 14 countries in 90 days. INTRODUCTION
