Many of our students start to make plans school sports when they are ln grammar school. Sports tend to arouse lnterest ln school work Those who enter lnto sports competltlon have to malntaln certain stan dards. If they 1a1l to measure ua to tlose st ndards, they cannot partlclpate ln at letic contests, so hlgher standards are kept by schools that engage 1n athletlcs But, say many of t e townspeople, the students should be glad to alntain 'that standard wlthout t e stlmulatlon of a sports contest. The tneory 1S true, but boys and U1rls need oteer stlmulatlon than thelr studles. The purpose of a school lS to train the future CltlZGHS well If lt fails at tuat tuen the taxpayers are the losers ln the future If sports keep more students 1 . z .L c c Q - . A 1 C C c , .
