THE CRESCENT The Fiftleth Anniversary CSlGbPTtlOD September 5, 1958, the day of the flftieth anniversary celebration of the opening of Buxton Hlgh School, dawned clear and sunny. The Alumnl ASSOCi1tlOh, sponsor of the celebration, was delighted. In front of the high school bullding w s a speaker's stand, gayly decxed with flags and buntlng Rows of chairs covered the lawn, whlch was dotted wlth colorful groups of laughing, talking graduates, teachers, students and visitors To the right of the stand was a table on which was a Guest Book where everyone was reque ted to leave hi name and receive a sa ll tag, red for visitors, yellow for alumni member , and reen fol teachers, principals, and superintendents, both pa t and present The afternoon prosr m con isted of s eeches by former and present supcrintendants and princlp ls, band selectlons, solos, and readlngs A supper was held by the alumni ln the church next door progra1, whlch featured the nCotton Blos om Quartet.n To all of the alumnl members this celebration served as a happy reunlon Cla nates, who had not seen e ch othel since 1888 Remarlably, every clas but one was repre ented. The Alumnl Assoclatlon informed ll of the gr duates slnce the clas of flfty years ago of the celebratlon, nd to many of those who were not able to attend w sent a com1e1orative booklet printed for that day.
