Commanding Officer W1 United States Ship SAM LE CDE-10485 SX At Sea 9 December l97O TO ALL OFFICERS AND MEN OF SAMPLE: This fine book summarizes the months of hard work, dedication and fun that made SAMPLE's second WESTPAC cruise most successful. But most of all it will, in the future, provide for each of us memories of the outstanding group of men who again proved SAM LE a first line ship able to meet the many and varied tasks required in the SEVENTH Fleet. Upon our departure from WESTPAC, the Commander Seventh Fleet commended SAMPLE stating: HI note with pleasure the outstanding record compiled while serving in the SEVENTHFLT. The crew of SAMPLE has shown itself to be a determined and highly talented group, a fact exemplified by the consistently fine performances rendered in such diverse duties as plane guard, picket duty in the Sea of Japan, and participation in ASWEX. Such versatility is indicative of the proven professionalism of SAMTLE's officers and men, and is in keeping with the highest traditions of the Navy. WELL DONEIH The teamwork and professionalism demonstrated by each of you have made SAMTLE the best. I wish each of you and your families the best of luck in the future and I thank you for your support and loyalty in the past. Warmest regards, N CLA w. T. MARIN ' Commanding
