STAGE IS SET FROM One characteristic of the youthful mind is its capacity for imagination. Some of Sammamish's most imaginative youth are members of the Drama Club, advised by Mr. Ron Childers and led by President Donna Uthus, Vice-president Kitty Caldwell, Secretary-treasurer Sherry Nordstrom, Pub- lic Relations Chairman Steve Painter, and Points OFficer Cheri Bess. Drama Club is affiliated with the National Thespian Society, a high school dramatics honorary. Eligi- ble for the society are Drama Club members who have earned points through actual stage experience. During the '62-'63 school year, the Sammamish Drama Club sponsored the all-school play, The Diary of Anne Frank, in November. The play was adapted from a young Jewish girls' diary ot her family's three years in hiding dur- ing the Nazi regime. Sammamish's presentation stared Jacqui Kaufman and Marianne Emerson as Anne Frank, Esther Hartglass as Mama Frank, Joe Ambrose as Peter, Rick Skinner as Papa Frank, .lan Detweiler as Margot Frank, Paul Shelton as Mr. Van Daan and Kathy Beaulac as Mrs. Van Daan. Other cast members were Mike Mc- Dowell, Dick Birnbaum and Diana Hungerford. 1 , , , ...,, ...uc,.,,..lsMWgQ 86

SAMMAMIQH ALWAYS PDPLILAR NA 0 A ,AAN'5W SHI Throughout the school year, many indoor activi- ties were held by various clubs, but the most unique outdoor activities were sponsored by the Totem Ski Club. Skiers attending Sammamish were given the opportunity to compete in races of all sorts during the '63 ski season. All races spon- sored by Ski Club took place at the Stevens Pass ski area which helped to unite the Ski Club and proved to be enjoyable tor all. Preceding the opening of the ski season, a fash- ion show and equipment display were presented to interested Sammamish students and parents. At this informal meeting, olticers were elected by those present. Dave Saunders took over the presi- dent's gavel, assisted by Tom Gomez, vice-presi- dent. Secretarial duties and all funds were handled by Peggy Pollard. To keep the club in line, Miss Outz was appointed faculty advisor again this year. is fe aw Q 4 its at 1 Q x ms at .5 ss, ig so K rf ,M .v ,, 5 2 t t E it My as sg s Q as 5, Q fm 3, ,iw Z 3, N 2 me wi-,f2gsgf.g:5,5g5g1,sgA-sf,fssslfiftiffragiflQwztffss5F1s,fsrsmff.gsg,,w?,5Q,i Yssfgr-sri,'?2ssfHfigf1t:f2gati.Ztv' 53'Sw'sfwzszgf-,1s,Qig,vii'i.t5wAWSQQQQEHKQE is sf fu sf is Ly mf si' 3 .Q rm wg, amsffsssgwsgsqs M.-3tser1?.m,gfmf1+fQ,1.gfsKryw:s,,R:.lw views-sfifexf,giswrgwsvfasg vs-wrvzsiksxfgffg -tm:-fast ss'--get Q rim, Qs 1 5 fa Km 5 sys xr ,Q W kim M E 3, we ws as ,L swiss,f,fyf,gfWfeasfmf-,wwfsslfs:mm-1sfsff.3Mf3l-ffrfsssfsstswftit was mygiraffes,wwsrf--wstffwmg ifsgmeigmsvswf si 5. is wg? sf as 5' aff--new V wzswfss-mg-fsm. ,m,-.gif-gf ,. ga fs, is ,fl M-Lg, wake sms 4'?ts,4s Q- ,ls .ssl ,rw A25 .
