mm s In a high school, the place of the usual sophomore corresponds with that of a whipping post. He is on probation for a year to prove to the upperclassmen that he is worthy of being considered a student at that school. The sophomores are constantly in a learning situation. Unlike the seasoned iuniors and seniors who are confident of what to do and how to act, the sophomores have to feel their way along, investigate each new situation and come to suitable conclusions. Too often they choose the wrong decisions and are called down for them. After starting the year with the traditional disadvantage, the sophomore class bounced back with a fine show of spirit. They have done their best to be worthy of recognition. They have carried out their duties faithfully and tried to live up to the high standards set by classes before them. The sophomores comprised the largest class this year with over six hundred students. This huge number has presented a few problems which have helped to bring about a greater spirit of unity. The Sophomore Hop, this year's first major dance, was made possible by the coopera- tive spirit displayed by the class with the helpful guidance of our faculty advisor, Mr. Bielko, and the numerous other faculty members who gave their valuable time for us. At the pep rallies, our class did their best to let the other people know we were around. They have erased all ties with any previous school and devoted their time to serving Sammamish High. ln future years, the class of '65 plans to make the most of their numbers and do something for the school that will be remembered in future years.
