A product of Howard College, who re- turned to his Alma Mater 11 years ago and now adds zest to its history department, is Dr. Hugh Coleman Bailey. Dr. Bailey's evident enthusiasm for his- tory is transmitted to his students through entertaining and educational lectures. Stu- dent celebrations of special events including Bastille Day and Valentine's Day are musts in his classes. His Christian character is seen by all who meet him, through his cheerful person- ality and concern for every student, irre- spective of whether or not they are in his classes. Dr. Bailey graduated from Howard Col- lege with honors and received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Ala- bama. He is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Alpha Theta, Pi Gamma Mu, and the Alabama Historical Society. In each position held, he has been a leader and an influence on the success of the organization. A Because of his contributions to Howard and his personification of the academic ex- cellence and Christian spirit which Howard stands for, we dedicate the 1962 ENTRE NOUS to Dr. Bailey.
