Acton Attainment of reading knowledge and in so tar as possible basic ability in writing and speaking the respective languages are the obiectives of the nuclear courses in the modern foreign language courses. To this end the languages studied is to be spoken in the classroom and in laboratory periods and all pos- sible visual and auditory aids, such as movies and phonograph records, are to be used. Newspapers and periodicals are to be used for supplementary reading. Singing songs in the language studied is a regular feature of these courses. 28

Four and five year plans are offered. The four-year course is intended for students training for retail, hospital, wholesale, and manufacturing pharmacists.
