ed'cation lvlaior Harwell G. Davis first came to Howard College in July of l939. After graduating from the University of Alabama he practiced law in Thomasville. Later he moved to Gadsden to con- tinue his practice. ln the First Vlforld War he rose to the rank of Major, at which time he was cited for gallantry in action by General Pershing. The latest among lvlaior Davis's accomplishments is the Five Year Advance Program. l-le has worked very hard to make this program a reality. The program provides for the provision of funds for the college through increased Cooperative Program gifts. Major Davis is a member of Phi Beta Kappa scholastic fraternity and Gmicron Delta Kappa leadership fraternity. l-le received an LL.D. degree shortly after his graduation and served his state in the capacity of Attorney General and U. S. Collector of Internal Rev- enue. The staff of the Entre Nous is proud to dedicate the T952 edi- tion to him! The Yearbook Staff
