A glance Barracks-Ward reveals more strenuous activities. lt is election day. A soft-ball game is in progress in one corner of Berry Field. The band, in brilliant red and blue, is playing a pep-song. Cheer- leaders are going through all sorts of gymnastics. Oblivious of the other noises, ll7l'OllIjSillg candidates for Student Body offices are holding forth in eloquent oratory from a platform near the Bookstore. Balloons are free for all, as are the scuffling of the young fry attracted by the merry- making. There are many visitors to the college at this time of year-alumni coming uhomef' parents of resident students come for afweekend with John or Mary, and prospective students looking us over. Some of the latter join students entering a large bus plastered with the undignified inscription FVUIIFZ7 QIllll'fl'I'.Y 01' Bzzsf, and We know the le Cercle Francais is off on its annual jaunt to the Cresent City. At last comes graduation day. That academic procession of vari- colored hoods forming in front of the Library contains more degrees than a thermometer, and represent colleges in all parts of the World- from Scotland to Mexico Cwith emphasis on Duke and L.S.Uj.
