BUOGIE DOW The opening of Western week was celebr- ated by a Western dance, sponsored by the senior class on September 7, 1978, Disc jockey Rodger W. Garret from KRBE radio station kept the party exciting and fun. All kinds of music was played includ- ing disco and western, and the dress was western. Several teachers chaperoned the party and a few were found dancing with the students themselves. At the end of the dance, many teens went home tired, but excited with the fantastic turnout of the Western dance. Lee Lumbley, junior, just loves to do his great imitation of Twiggy for all the students at Sam Rayburn. Sam Rayburn hosts its annual fashion show where the new wardrobes for the spring of '79 are shown. ONE-ACTPLAY TAKE ITA WAY The drama department put on their production of Summoning of Every- man as their 1979 one-act play. They performed it for students at school, and they entered it in the U.l.L. one- act play contest. The contest was held at Clear Lake High School on March 28, 1979. Ron Braswell, who had the lead role, and Lee Lumbley, were an- nounced as members of the All-Star cast. jeff Sensat received Honorable Mention. The play was chosen as the alternate play to go to the next round of competition. The Summoning of Everyman was a medieval morality play. Ron Braswell, junior, screams loudly like a baby when he realizes he cut his little pinky leff Sensat is ready to go trick-or-treating.

Sam Rayburn students from all grade levels attended and were found dancing the night away. Another fun dance was on May 4, 1979, sponsored by the juniors. Many people came to this dance, which was held to raise money for their Senior prom.
