INTERACT LENDS A HAND The interact Club, sponsored by Mr. Larry Rucker, is a service club set up to help needy families at Christmas time. During the first week of December, they sold two different types of T-shirts to raise more money. With this money they bought fresh bakery and produce goods. On December 20, members delivered boxes of food to the homes of thirty- one needy families. W. .'g ,l b' it F t ---J SPEECH CL UB WINS A WARDS Members of the Speech Club ex- celled at several Invitational Tourna- ments this year under the direction of sponsor Mrs. Wanda Butler. On Sept. 16 the students won the fourth place sweepstakes trophy in public speaking at the San lacinto College Speech Festival. Other tournaments included the New Caney Speech Festival where Bobby Barnett qualified for State Contest, and tour- naments at South Houston, Milby, Dobie, Clear Lake, Friendswood and Westbury High Schools. The Speech Club participated in the La Porte Speech Tournament, the Humble ln- vitational and UIL where Kim Lamp won second place to advance to the regionals. Members of the Speech Club who won trophies throughout the year at these various tourna- ments were lan Farquhar, Ron Braswell, Robert lones, and Stacey Strawn. The Speech Club finished the year with the Pasadena Invita- tional in May. Kim Lamp performs at a Speech Club meeting.
