The stu- dents representing each class were Greg Glover, freshman, Eddie Richards, sophomore, Steve Sefton, junior, and Tim Cox, senior, The teachers compet- ing were Mr. Teichelman and Mr. Lessner. During the one minute time limit, the contestants were shoving bananas in their mouths, trying their hardest to eat the most bananas. At the end of the fun-filled minute, the cheerleaders announced that there was a tie. The winners of the 'l978 banana contest were Tim Cox and Greg Glover. f '4'-21.12 Q- N.. t Co Bananas! Calvin Benjamin, lr., gives his spirit speech. 5am's Crew raises SAM to the crowds cheers. tSPIRITt Pep-rallies are one of the greatest ways to raise Texan spirit. Everyone wanted to get into the action of supporting the Texas teams. The cheerleaders led the pep-rallies in which the band played, different groups did skits, and a Spirit Award was given out at the end of the pep-rally to the most spirited group that week. At the Sam Rayburn pep-rallies everyone is found to be super excited, and caught up in a big wave of spirit otherwise known as GREAT TEXAN SPIRIT! 3,4-V' Keith Williamson, junior, ai! .-n. L. l.
