2 The Symphony reht-Artes at Stephen F Austin. SH SYMPHONY GAINS El GH T H The orchestra began a busy year with a concert at the Academic Excellence program in October. They also played a concert in November. ln December the Christmas concert was performed. The string players also attended an invita- tional at Sam Houston State University in December. The children's concert was held in january. In February the orchestra played at the Secondary School Principals Convention. The PISD orchestra festival was in March. The orchestra attended UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest in March. At that contest the orchestra won their eighth consecutive sweepstakes. The annual orchestra trip was held in March. The orchestra played a concert at Stephen F. Austin State University and then traveled on to Six Flags. Several members of the orchestra were honored with positions in the All-State Orchestra. They were: Debbie Griggs, Lynne Elliott, Michelle Nepveux, violin, Willie Blackbird, cello, Herman Campbell, Steve Godbe, string bass and Chris Sicard, Fr. Horn. The orchestra ended the year with a pop concert in May with Dr. lay Dunnahoo, director. Becky Cobb and Willie Blackbird were named orchestra Belle and Beau at the annual banquet in May, Brook Ward prays he will play the right note, 64 ',- 4. - ibl: . s f 5 gN COIICBH

During the show each choir performed as a group and also many solos and duets were sung. High- lights of the show included: Missy Lake and Ann Blake-'s imitation of Dolly Par- ton, Vince Hiller and his band and leff Sensat and Bobby Barnett with their original songs. The choirs also enhanced the Christmas season with their music. Outside of their perfor- mances at school, the choirs also per- formed at many local places under the superb direction of Mr. Norris Blevins. 2
