The band performs at each halftime with feature twirler Trudi Davis. BAND MARCHES ON T 0 VICTOR Y The school year held many successes for the Texan Band. The band marched at every football game during the season. In November the band went to UIL marching contest and received a I from all three judges. This was great ex- citement for the band directors, Ioe Cullum and lohn Rucker, The band also changed marching style this past year. The new style is called corps style. ln February, the highest number of individuals ever recorded in the history of the band attended All-State musical festivities in Ft. Worth. They are: Forrest Owen, Fr. Horn, Chris Sicard, third time All-State Fr. Horn, Tommy Sicard, Fr. Horn, and Bobby Simpson, trumpet. The annual Band Banquet was held at Sylvan Beach on january 261979. Under the direction of Mrs. Betty Baker, they per- formed at each football game, ln- dividual groups performed at home basketball games. Because of construc- tion, the Tex-Anns were unable to prac- tice in the gym, and sometimes theydid not have a place to practice. So this limited the number of competitions they were able to attend. The competi- tions they did attend vvon them many superior awards to add to their collec- tion. On january 12, 1979, the Tex-Anns held the annual Tex-Ann Ball at Sylvan Beach. They named Cindi Ditta and Greg Meyer as 1979 Queen and Beau. Cindi Ditta and Greg Meyer are Queen and Beau. Cheryl Walker, Yvette Dolan and Karen Lindquist dress up in their best clothes to eat pizza. 2
