WESTERN! loyce A Ra burn about her exciting way of life- WE TERN WEEK HO TS GUESTS Western Week. . .that was something new at Sam Rayburn this past year. Cre- ated by Mrs. Butler, Western Week was a week full of excitement for the people at SR. The kickoff was a Western dance sponsored by the seniors on September 8, 1978. The following week, we ex- perienced yodeling, heard a mule talk saw square dancing and a lasso show, talked with horsebreeders, and one day the folks here even dressed western. It was a week that will be remembered for a long time by everyone at SR.

September 15, 1978, was a very special night that will always be remembered by students of Sam Rayburn. It was Homecoming '78, the night students had been looking forward to for a long time. Many couples were seen at the football game dressed up supporting the Texan team, and to see Becky Cobb, Kristi Schwartz, and Terri Lee, the lucky girls chosen as Miss Round-up finalists. The loss to Baytown of 12-10, disap- pointed many, but it did not shut out the excitement of the evening. After the game, most of the couples went into Houston,wherethey were found eating and dancing the night away, 'sv-' Shelly MCCrory enjoys Arthur Oswald's loke while Nancy Mitchel: hinks that the joke Tony Tolar from So Ho told her was totally disgusting 20 -
