Door, bulletin board, room, and hall decorating contests play a big part here at Sam Rayburn, Homerooms and different organizations worked together to make the school building as spirited as the students themselves, The contests are usually held during the weeks of big rivalry in football. During the week before the Rayburn-Pasadena game, the schools halls showed the ex- citement ofthe students, The winners of the decorating contests were an- nounced by the cheerleaders at the pep-rally that week. WESTERN! loyce A Ra burn about her exciting way of life- WE TERN WEEK HO TS GUESTS Western Week. . .that was something new at Sam Rayburn this past year. Cre- ated by Mrs. Butler, Western Week was a week full of excitement for the people at SR. The kickoff was a Western dance sponsored by the seniors on September 8, 1978. The following week, we ex- perienced yodeling, heard a mule talk saw square dancing and a lasso show, talked with horsebreeders, and one day the folks here even dressed western. It was a week that will be remembered for a long time by everyone at SR.
