2 Ill l O 4 J Dorothy Hartman and Lillian Go STAFF ASSISTS Dorothy Hartman, teacher of the visually handicapped, and Lillian Goodwin, aide, are in charge of these special children. Mrs. Hartman has been teaching the visually handicap- ped for sixteen years and eleven years with P. I. S. D. Mrs. Goodwin has been with the district for seven years. They are responsible for both the high school and intermediate programs. The students are enrolled in classes for most of the day. They are scheduled to the room for one period a day. The stu- dent's tests are done in large type or in braille. Ifthe test is done in braille, the paper is transcribed for the teacher who has the student. They are also equipped with a tape recorder for items that are not in braille or done in type. odwin are laughing at the jokes in the braille comic books. He went to the University of Houston in 1965-1970. After college he lived in France and Germany. ln Ger- many he studied music and worked in an umbrella factory, His hobbies in- clude yoga, French cooking, music, and Bible study of the original Hebrew Ver- sion. The subjects that he teaches are German and English. He can speak five languages and they are French, Ger- man, ltalian, Spanish, and of course English. He can also read and write Latin, Sanskrit, Hebrew. He really en- joys Rayburn and just loves the stu- dents.
