Spirits High During Homecoming Festivities f After a year without a parade, Sam Houston students wel- comed Homecoming, celebrated in the traditional sense. Besides the parade, attractions included the bonfire, a per- formance in the Coliseum by Michael Murphey, and an alumni ‘banquet and reception, held in the Criminal Justice Center and LSC. Dan Rather, well-known television journalist, was one of the SHSU alumni to attend homecoming. The Sam Houston Bearkats played Texas A l.in the Homecom- ing game, and while the Kats lost the game 34-20, spirit was high among the crowds. (A) A weary Bearkat team discussed strategy near the end of the game. (B) Topper and friend participated in the parade. (C) Dan Rather returned to SHSU for Homecoming. (D) Tamara Rinehart watched the game with apprehension. (E) Alpha Chi Omega and Delta Tau Delta built Sammy Bearkat for the parade. (F) Al Brown and Marty Castillo held up their end of the cheerleading. (G) Bear- kat supporters waited for the kickoff. 14 Life
