In past years the Mixer has been held in the Ballroom of the SUB, but this year the Freshman Class was so large that the site was moved to the Men's Gym. VVonder Where all the girls Went? The Bearkats won the 1959 season opener September 19, by downing the Southwestern Oklahoma Bulldogs 31-6. Four thousand gridiron fans saw half- back Mark Seotka, East Bernard sopho- more, score the first Bearkat tally of the season late in the second quarter on a twenty five yard run- Sam Houston tri-captains for the Southwestern Oklahoma game, Kenneth Welcli, Ronnie Choate and Iackie Harris, lead their teammates through a BEAT THE BULLDOGSH sign and onto the field as the Kats open the 1959 season. jug Iackson evades the last Btwog threat between him and pay dirt as lr: clears right end for a touchdown. Iackson, who scored three times. picked up 112 yards in II plays.
