Zena: Clarkson N elda Ehrlich Dear fellow students, The memories of a college career are with you forever but are seen for such a short time. In the 1960 ALCALDE we have tried to capture the events of the year to hold them for you. Sam Houston has a grow- ing family of students, Ihope the 1960 ALCALDE has grown with that family. A great deal of time and effort has been contributed by many people to present to you, the students, an accurate account of the year's events. I wish to thank and commend the ALCALDE Staff for their contribu- tions. Appreciation should also be expressed to the various departments without whose work and advice the staff could not have functioned. Thanks must first be extended to the Photography Department, under the able direction of Mr. J. Madison Wolfe, who is assisted by Roy Hensel. Also under the direction of Mr. Wolfe is the Photoengraving Department, which produced all of the engravings for the book. Special congratula- tions go to this department for the excellent job done on the color repro- ductions. For valuable advice and for much of the ALCALDE art work, I thank Mr. Gaddis Geeslin and his art classes. Printing of this book was handled entirely by the college Printing Depart- ment. To the instructors and students of that department I also express sincere gratitude. For proofreading portions of the copy, thanks go to the director of the English Department, Dr. Dorothy Rushing. Although much care has been exercised in the preparation of this ALCALDE errors are bound to appear. I ask that you accept the sincere apologies of myself and the entire staff for such errors.
