PROGRESS AT SAM I-IOUSTCDN Sam Houston is like a piece of elastic-it streches and ex- pands and grows into something big, big, big. One-half mil- lion dollars were spent on improvements last year during the greatest building year in Sam Houston's history. lts enroll- ment spread to three thousand, three hundred, fifty-one stu- dents--largest enrollment increase this year in any state-sup- ported institution. Its social clubs have become nationalized, and to provide the finishing touches to beautiful, new buildings each one has been air-conditioned. Sam I-louston's obsessive growth has become implanted in the minds and hearts of most students on campus, so it is only natural that the ALCALDE reflect this feeling of progressive movement and dedicate its pages to PROGRESS. 1959 Alculde Som Houston State College Editor .........,.,. lohn Rothleitner Business Manager .....
