Here they come! The high-stepping Houstonettes of Sam Houston High School! These familiar words are spoken at every football halt-time just before some T50 Houstonettes march out and execute their precision drills. Bu't drilling at foot- ball games is not all these hard-working girls do. They march at the Shriner's Ball and parades, sell poppies on Veteran's Day, sell magazines to buy their uniforms, usher at Open House, cheer at other school activities, and their Flag Corps puts out the student directory. However, it's not all work and no play for the Houstonettes. At their annual Mother-Daughter Banquet, the seniors re- ceive their sweaters, a reward for three years of hard work. But the highlight of the special season for the Houstonettes and other students of Sam Houston is the Stardust Ball at which the Houston- ette Honey is crowned. lst LIEUTENANT MAJORETTES Mackie Plaster Bessie Chaleck, Estell Mason, Sunny Jaenecke Mackie Plaster Ann Walker Sandy Winkler
