SKI TEAM Boys Place Ninth in State This years Boys' Ski Team finished a very successful season with a third place finish in the Wilco League and a ninth place finish at the state ski meet. The Girls' team had four members which made it difficult for them to place at every meet. The team began working out in November to build endurance and agility. Early in December they hit the slopes and began practic- ing their racing technique. The team was lead by their fearless leader, Coach Knight. Bill Harsey was team captain and was voted outstanding skier. John 'Claude' Creel sits back 'I in an effort to gain speed as he crosses the finish line. 7 V i t? Mike Nelson holds off an opposing grappler to win a decision. y FROSH WRESTLING Frosh Find Talent Turnout Sees Few Fi.rst year wrestling coach Bob Moeller had a tough time of it this year as his 5-eshmen grappleis compiled only two wins during the 1972-73 wrestling season. The frosh team won decisively their first match against West Linn, but were put down in the second meet by a narrow margin of 46-43. Apparently this dogged their spirit for the remaining portion of the season, as they won only one more match that being against Fremont. Not many of the matches were really runaways and the team competed very Well with some of the best teams in the Wilco League. The team worked hard all year and it was Mark Christian executes a pinning combination on his we ary adver- sary. The freshmen Warm up with stretching exercises before a meet. evident that the talent was there but the experience was lacking. Some of the guys came from schools where they don't even have a wrestling program, so they are just beginning to catch up. The wins will come with experience the coaches agree, and if they stick it out, they'l1 make great varsity members.
