ADMINISTRATION New Year, ' A Better Year The fall of '72 saw Bar1ow's administration faced with new and difficult challenges as it worked with students, parents, and school activities. The 72- 73 school board, with united efforts and many extra hours of hard work, put together the student con- duct code book. They formalized old policies and de- veloped new systems for better student conduct throughout the school. Arena Scheduling started the year with a new and different approach to registration. It enabled the stu- dents to choose the teachers and classes they wanted, in the hopes that schedules would not be rearranged dur- T , ing the first two weeks of school. The planning con- sumed many hours, and it proved to be a great success. STUDENT GOVERNMENT Council Promotes School Unity Our 1972-73 Student Council was off to a great start with an all school candle sale. This added approximately two thousand dol- lars to the student body treasury, and put two beautiful 10-speed bikes into the hands of two very happy students. The Student Council lounge was a new plus for student government this year. During all periods of the day, information could be obtained about student activities and assist those with questions about Council affairs. Two of Sam Barlows executive council mem- bers, joe Opray and Vicki Rohrberg, were presented Student Leadership Awards from the Elks Club. This qualified them for the nation- al competition in the hopes of scholarships. This year, the Student Council was privi- ledged in having the services of a fine advisor, Mr. Lynn Winchester. Mr. Winchester, Executive Council, Student Council, and I. O. C. Worked hard towards making Barlows students aware that student government is extremely important.
